GREEN PLANTS FOR GREEN BUILDING ISSUES 'EARTH DAY' CHALLENGE: ALLOW NATURE TO CLEANSE THE AIR AROUND YOU!

Green PlantsLOVELAND, OH, March 31, 2008 --/WORLD-WIRE/-- The national non-profit educational group, Green Plants for Green Buildings (GPGB) is challenging Earth Day 2008 to be just a little greener. They suggest that everyone pick a room or space (home or, if you're the boss, at work) and place one plant per every 100 Sq. feet by April 22nd (Earth Day); Keep them there for one full month. GPGB asks everyone to describe, in writing a very brief observation of the impact the plants had on humans in the selected environment; they request all to FAX in their personal observations, claiming they will publish your results. The Fax number provided from the group is: 513-575-2536 and they recommend submitting them between May 22nd and June 1st. The Board of Directors of GPGB will carefully review each submission and the top ten will run in their national program newsletter and will be submitted to national media as well. Be sure to include your full name and contact information on the fax (e-mail, phone and address). According to the group the top ten will be selected based on their ability to truly capture the overall effect plants have on humans.

"Off-Gassing" or Indoor Air Quality (or IAQ) is a buzz word for a reason. Within most home and office structures one would find a mix of emissions of volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) from chemically formulated personal care products, carpeting, fabrics, pesticides, business machines, inks, adhesives to name a few. A former NASA scientist, Dr. Bill Wolverton, believes it is time we "allow nature to cleanse itself." After publishing more than seventy technical papers, lecturing around the world and having authored "How to Grow Fresh Air" (Penguin) he has come to the conclusion that one plant for every 100 square feet of living or working space is enough to significantly reduce these indoor toxins.
