OBAMA-BIDEN TRANSITION INSPIRES GREEN WORK FORCE DEVELOPMENT
NATIONAL EVENT TOUR
First stop: Orlando, Florida

ORLANDO, FL, December 10, 2008 --/WORLD-WIRE/-- Road trips will never be the same, and as the Obama-Biden campaign proved, unprecedented victories can be attained with the right message, outreach, and organization. While the president elects’ campaign promises seem lofty, one of America’s top green event producers believe they can help make the change to a sustainable economy a reality. Green Cities™ will have its first regional launch as Green Cities Florida this March 10-12, 2009 in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center. Leaders in building a sustainable green economy and trainers who specialize in teaching businesses how to “go green” will converge at this highly interactive eco-education training event. Topics include: greening your business A-Z, sourcing sustainable materials; financing of clean tech and new green businesses; greening tourism and travel; climate change 101, green building design and construction, and best practices for corporate social responsibility. The event will also include certification courses for green construction, green procurement and green real estate. A $200 discount is available for the first 250 registrants available at www.GreenCities.com

Green Cities™ promises to help facilitate the education and economic stimulation needed to realize the lofty goals of our next presidential administration. The Obama-Biden team have publicly posted their “green economy” objectives on their www.Change.gov website. These include promises to create five million new jobs by strategically investing $150 billion in private investment for clean energy infrastructure, to put 1 million Plug-In Hybrid’s on the road, to ensure 10 percent of America’s electricity will come from renewable sources and to implement an economy-wide cap-and-trade program that seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent. The producers of Green Cities™ have designed their event series to prepare business and government decision makers to make these promises a reality. While the pundits are making comparisons between the president elect’s new administration and the Roosevelt administration, the Green Cities™ producers are simply implementing their own national strategy of preparing as many people as possible to reap the reward of the possible “new green deal”.

Joseph Malki – green expert and executive producer for the event – says Green Cities™ is about training a white, blue and green collar work force around the basics of sustainability as well as the deeper more practical elements around its practice. “Green Cities™ is not your usual conference with typical talking heads and the deep sleepy factor of dark rooms and projectors. The business and government community are tired of that model and are dying for hands-on, practical workshops and interactive policy planning sessions that actually show them “how” to implement sustainability. Our nation is a people of “doers” and they want to roll-up their sleeves and dive in. Our job is to deliver some serious know-how for our guests to take back to their office, factory, or farm.” Green Cities™ Florida, will rely on practicums as well as Open Space Technology, a collaborative deep dive event system to deliver high intensity training around the green economy.

Green Cities™ Florida™, has launched its registration (www.greencities.com) featuring top speakers in the field of sustainability, including: corporate and government leader Dr. Brian Nattrass, President of Sustainable Partners, Inc,; national leader on green jobs, Jerome Ringo, President of the Apollo Alliance ; award winning architect, Jaime Correa; author and Global Exchange founder, Dr. Kevin Danaher; eco-fashion pioneer Marci Zaroff CEO of Under the Canopy, USGBC Co-founder Mike Italiano, President of Market Transformation to Sustainability; and green business leader, Alisa Gravitz Co-op America Executive Director.

Today, more than ever, there is a growing interest in making urban design and our economy more ethical, healthy, prosperous and environmentally responsible for its citizens. Americans are seeing this movement in the many new and transformed marketplaces: clean tech, green events, organic foods and product, LEED certified building (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design), renewable energy, clean transportation, green home and commercial construction, carbon neutrality through off-sets, smart city design, energy efficient products and cars, permaculture design, sustainable agriculture, waste diversion and recycling to name a few. Green Cities™ events’ focus on a state’s needs by providing regional experts and trainers who deliver practical insights, tools, resources, and know-how that is relevant and readily available for business operators and government department heads.

Executive co-producer Georgia Malki believes “when you blend green inspiration with education and practical training you can create sustainable pathways for better jobs, healthier cities, smarter governments; that’s a change we all want”. Towards this mission, Green Cities™ works with leading organizations recognized as “Partners in Education” (PIE) to provide advice and support. PIE organizations include the ICLEI, and Market Transformation to Sustainability, Co-op America, Global Exchange, Investors Circle, Climate Culture International, AIA Florida, Florida Green Building Coalition, Sustainable Florida, and the Florida Environmental Resource Agencies.

The executive producers are the brother-sister team of Joseph and Georgia Malki, partners in America’s EPA award winning green event production firm, Seven-Star, Inc. headquartered in Asheville, North Carolina.
