Truth Social Media App is live on App store

Truth Social Media app was launched in response to the ban imposed on the former president by the Big Tech platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube in January 202 following the attack on the Capitol building by Trump supporters.

Truth Social is a social media platform launched by former U.S president, Donald Trump’s tech firm, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG).

The Truth Social platform attempts to promote free speech and, in Trump’s own words, “cancel cancel-culture”. Truth Social app targets those who feel that their opinions and views are suppressed on other platforms. Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), who resigned from Congress, will serve as the CEO for the social media platform.

Truth Social is now LIVE on the App Store

Trump has been teasing the launch of Truth Social for months now and it’s finally here, marking the end of the former president’s year-long social media exile. The brand new social media site is now live on the Apple App Store and is available for download. 

It was launched late on Sunday, shortly before midnight ET. For those who had pre-ordered, the app was automatically installed on their devices.

Some Truth Social users reported technical difficulties while registering for an account while others were added to a waitlist with a message that read, “Due to massive demand, we have placed you on our waitlist.”  

Truth Social might have to wrestle to compete with Big Tech

Trump’s new social media venture might have trouble competing with the Big Tech firms. None of the recently launched social media alternatives including Rumble, Gettr, Parler, etc have even come close to matching their well-established counterparts. 

According to expert analysis, the site’s inherent nature that only caters to a specific ideological point of view will most likely throw a spanner in the works, preventing Truth Social from reaching similar heights as mainstream platforms.
