NEET and JEE Mains 2020: Examinations to be Postponed Again? NTA Announced new Dates?

NEET and JEE Mains 2020:

NEET and JEE Mains 2020: The Human Resource and Development Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank announced on July 2, 2020, that there will be a meeting of the NTA panel to review the current situation and discuss on the conduct of the JEE Mains 2020 and NEET examinations.  The minister took to Twitter on July 2 to inform that considering the current situation and received requests from students and parents appearing for JEE Mains and NEET exams, a committee is going to review the situation and submit recommendations to the HRD ministry by July 3.

NEET and JEE Mains 2020

According to the previous schedule announced in a webinar on May 5, the JEE Mains 2020 examination was to be conducted from July 18 to 23 while NEET was going to be conducted on July 26, 2020. However, with the current situation of rising cases of COVID-19 infections and requests from parents and students to postpone the exams, HRD ministry is likely to postpone the exams at least until August 2020.

Also, the students who are willing to appear for the NEET 2020 examinations are also requesting to postpone the exams as with the current scenario they are unable to travel to India due to ongoing restrictions on travel, and furthermore, there are no centers abroad for the conduction of these exams. Moreover, to assure safe conduction of the exams across the country is the most challenging part. Mask and sanitizers can be arranged but social distancing with fewer exam centers as assigned by NTA and the convenience up to the centers and that too following the norms is very difficult.

Examinations to be Postponed Again?

With all the aforementioned conditions the tweet from the HRD minister gives a relief to the students and parents who are appearing for JEE Mains and NEET examinations 2020. However, as there hasn’t been any official announcement regarding postponement at the official websites of JEE Mains, there is hue and cry among the students. The NEET students are also in the same shoe and increasing their voice on social media platforms with trending hashtags like #PostponeNEETandJEE, #StudentsLivesMatter, etc., to postpone the exams.

The registration to the examinations has been closed and intermediate student with minimum 75% marks was allowed to register themselves to apply for the engineering entrance exam. Admit card for JEE Mains will be available 15 days prior to the exam and can be downloaded from the official website of JEE Mains i.e. www.jeemain.nic.in.
