Griffin was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 15, 1989, to Joseph Farah, a journalist of Syrian and Lebanese descent who founded the far-right website WorldNetDaily, and Judy Smagula, a Sacramento-based journalist. Griffin describes her upbringing as being “raised in the right-wing media.”
Griffin graduated from Bella Vista High School in Fair Oaks, California, in 2007 and later studied political science and journalism at Patrick Henry College, a Christian college in Purcellville, Virginia, graduating in 2011. After college, she worked as a press secretary for the House Freedom Caucus and then as the deputy press secretary to Vice President Mike Pence.
