Actress Kelly Preston who is famously known for her dramatic and comic roles in movies like Mischief, SpaceCamp, Twins, Jerry Maguire, For Love of the Game, etc., died on Sunday, July 12, 2020, due to breast cancer. She was 57 years old. Her husband and actor John Travolta shared the news via an Instagram post in which he said that his wife Kelly Preston who was courageously battling with breast cancer since the last two years lost the battle and has died.

A representative of the actress also confirmed the news in an exclusive statement to People that in the morning on July 12, adored wife and mother, Kelly Preston passed away after her two yearlong battle with breast cancer. She kept her fight private along with the support of her close family and friends. The representative appealed for their privacy at this time.

Kelly is survived by her husband John Travolta and their two children – Ella (20) and Benjamin (9). Their eldest child Jett had died at the age of 16 earlier in January 2009.

She was born on October 13, 1962, as Kelly Kamalelehua Smith in Honolulu, Hawaii. Interested in acting, she studied acting at the University of Southern California. She made her debut on the big screen in 1985 with her first major role in ‘Mischief’. Prior to this, she had done several minor roles in various television shows like’ For Love and Honor’, etc.

After this, there was no turning back for Kelly as she starred in movies like ‘SpaceCamp’ (1986), ‘Twins’ (1988), ‘Jerry Maguire’ (1996), and ‘For Love of the Game’ (1999). She was last seen in ‘Gotti’ in the year 2018 in which she was paired opposite her real-life husband John Travolta. She also appeared with Travolta in ‘Battlefield Earth’ in 2000. She also featured in a music video called ‘She will be loved’ for Maroon 5’s.

Talking about personal life, Kelly met John while shooting for the movie ‘The Experts’ in 1988. Travolta proposed Kelly on the New Year’s eve in 1991 at the Palace Hotel restaurant in Gstaad, Switzerland. They married on September 5, 1991, at a midnight ceremony in Paris while the couple was expecting their first son, Jett. The married for the second time in Daytona Beach, Florida in the U.S. Last year they have celebrated their 28th wedding Anniversary.

Their eldest son was born in April 1992 while daughter Ella was born in April 2000.  After the tragic death of their son Jett in 2009, son Ben was born in November 2010 after the couple tried three years to conceive.

Preston used to keep posting on Instagram on various occasions and her last post was her post on Father’s Day in June with a family selfie.
