All you need to know about the founders of TPUSA!

The Turning Point USA (TPUSA) is a nonprofit organization that advocates for conservative teaching in High schools, colleges, and universities. The organization was founded in 2012 By Charlie Kirk and Bill Montgomery.

Turning Point USA annually hosts several conferences on various topics, such as the Teen Student Action Summit, Young Women’s Leadership Summit, Young Black Leadership Summit, Americafest, and Young Latino Leadership Summit. The organization is famous for its “Professor Watchlist.” This site claims to expose professors that TPUSA says “discriminate against conservative students and advance leftist propaganda in the classroom.”

In 2017, the organization claimed to have representation on 1000 campuses. Journalist Joseph Guinto verified that there were, in fact, only 400 verified campuses.

The founders of TPUSA

As mentioned above, the two founders of Turning Point USA are Charlie Kirk and Bill Montgomery. Both are founders, but Charlie Kirk plays a more active and lead role.

About Charlie Kirk

Charlie Clark has been the public face of Turning Point since its founding. He has also served as its executive director since then. According to the New York Times, he has turned the organization into a “well-funded media operation backed by conservative mega-donors like Wyoming businessman Foster Friess,” the New York Times.

Charlie Kirk’s education

Kirk was born on October 14, 1993. Kirk was born in the Chicago suburb of Arlington Heights in Illinois. He was raised in the nearby Prospect Heights in Illinois.

He went to high school at Wheeling High School. In his junior year at Wheeling High School, he volunteered for the US senate campaign of Illinois Republican Mark Kirk. He is not related to Mark Kirk.

In his senior year, he also created a campaign to reverse the price increase for cookies at his school. He also wrote an essay alleging liberal bias in high school textbooks for Breitbart News which then led to an appearance on Fox Business. He also claimed that “all of his teachers were openly Marxists and socialists who would indoctrinate and not educate and put forth an agenda that was not even about free flow discussion or ideas.” “It was about the punishment of anyone who would ever oppose the idea of cultural Marxism, bigger government, and centralized command economy control,” he added.

Kirk came that he argued a lot with his teachers and that they were all extreme leftists. As you can see, Kirk was extremely active in his education.

At a speaking engagement at Benedictine University’s “Youth empowerment day.”, Kirk met Bill Montgomery. Bill was a retiree who was more than 50 years his senior.

Early life

Montgomery encouraged Kirk to engage in political activism full time as he saw that Kirk was quite interested in it. He then founded Turning Point USA with Bill Montgomery.

Later, He had grown the organization into a reasonable size. At the 2012 Republican National convention, Kirk met Foster Friess, a prominent Republican donor, and persuaded him to finance his organization.

Kirk later stated that he applied to the United States military academy in West Point, New York, but was not accepted. “The slot I considered mine went to a far less qualified candidate of a different gender and a different persuasion,” he said.

He later claimed to The New Yorker that he was being sarcastic when he said it. Then he told the Chicago Tribune that he was “just repeating something he’d been told.” Then at a New Hampshire Turning Point event, he claimed that he never said it.

Charlie Kirk Net worth

As of December 2021, Charlie Kirk has a net worth of $3 million.

Charlie Kirk personal life

Not much is known about Charlie Kirk’s personal life, but he is engaged to Erika Frantzve.

Charlie Kirk with TPUSA

In 2020, ProPublica investigated the finances of turning point USA and said that in the report, the “organization made misleading financial claims.”

Their reports claimed that an independent auditor did not do the organization’s audits. They also reported that Kirk’s salary had also increased from $27,000 to nearly $300,000 and that he had bought an $855,000 condo in Longboat Key, Florida.

Charlie Kirk and Conspiracy theories

Kirk promotes the cultural marxism conspiracy theory and several others. The cultural Marxism conspiracy theory revolves around a central belief that Western Marxism is the basis of continuing academic and intellectual efforts to subvert Western culture. The theory claims that an elite of Marxist theorists and intellectuals are subverting western society.

Kirk is also known for his ruthless criticism of universities, saying they are “islands of totalitarianism.” He also falsely claimed that protesters in the French “yellow vest movement” chanted “We Want Trump.” These claims then were repeated by Donald Trump.

Kirk also defended the Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, saying that “It took President Barack Obama millions infected and over 1,000 deaths to declare a public health emergency.” This was a completely false claim.

About Bill Montgomery

Not much is known about Bill Montgomery. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1940 and grew up in Peoria, Illinois.

Montgomery served in the United States Air force reserve and spent his working career in marketing.

Bill met Kirk when the latter was 18. Montgomery has been described as Kirk’s mentor. He died of complications from Corvette 19 in July 2020. Turning Point USA deleted a tweet that mocked wearers of protective masks after his death.
