Dr Anthony Fauci says “Americans will likely need a third dose to cure COVID 19.”

The director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr Anthony Fauci said that the US citizens would likely be required to take a third shot of the Covid 19 vaccination to be considered fully safe. He made these comments on NBC’s show “Meet the Press”.

America is facing yet another Covid surge and has left the country in another wave of distress. Following this surge, it is likely that the rollout of a third shot of covid nineteen vaccination or booster doses could begin in the upcoming weeks. These booster doses are probably waiting for FDA registration. Fauci also said that individuals who had immunocompromised conditions– cancer patients who were undergoing chemotherapy treatments or people who are taking prescribed immunosuppressants following an organ transplant should be given the third booster dose as soon as possible. This third booster dose would increase the possibility of potential immunity against the deadly covid nineteen vaccination.

The Government institute called Food and Drug administration is looking forward to investigating the new set of data provided by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This data suggests that additional vaccines or booster doses might be necessary for people whose immune system has been compromised.

Dr Anthony Fauci said that according to two Israeli-based studies, there was a decrease in infections among people who got a third or booster shot.

While commenting on the efficacy of the third booster dose of the covid, Dr Anthony Fauci said that  the three-dose practice “will actually be durable, and if it is durable, then you’re going to have very likely a three-dose regimen being the routine regimen.” Fauci also added that the final steps or decisions regarding the third booster dose were up to the US Food and Drug Administration.

FDA officials also said that according to the report they could authorise the use of the booster dose during emergencies. However, for older people whose immune system has grown weaker over time, the need for the third vaccine might not be immediate. They might need a booster dose in the future, as the potential efficacy would decrease over time.

More than 168,200 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the United States on September 2, 2021. As per reports, between January 20, 2020, and September 2, 2021, over 39 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 were observed with more than 635 thousand deaths in the U.S. as reported by the World Health Organization. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that approximately 206.5 million people have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, comprising 175.5 million people who have been fully vaccinated by Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine or the two-dose series produced by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.

According to CDC, all air passengers coming to the United States, including U.S. citizens and fully vaccinated people, are required to have a  COVID-19 test result no more than 3 days before travel or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 in the past 3 months before they take a flight to the United States.
