The Delhi University, DU, has decided to extend the online application date for DU Admissions 2020 to its undergraduates(UG), postgraduates(PG), MPhil, and Ph.D. courses until 31st July 2020. The candidates who haven’t yet registered themselves to take admissions in the DU affiliated colleges in the aforementioned courses can now have the chance to register themselves by submitting their application forms online till July 31 at 5 pm on the official website of the university i.e. at du.ac.in.

The official statement of the university said that all eligible candidates are informed that the last date of the online registration process of all the courses has been extended up to 5 pm, July 31, 2020. Earlier, the last date for applying for the courses in the university was July 4 however it was extended to July 18 later and now, the date has been extended to July 31.
The reason behind the postponement of the last date can be the delay in the announcement of the class 12th result. Due to the nationwide lockdown imposed by the government to combat the coronavirus, the whole country was under shutdown including schools and colleges. After the unlock phase has been imposed, various boards have conducted the remaining exams of the students and are now releasing the result gradually.

Meanwhile, according to the university, 4,44,198 eligible candidates had registered on the admission portal for the undergraduate courses while 2,91,469 candidates had paid the registration fees so far by 9 pm on Saturday.
The university further added that 1,66,933 candidates had registered for the postgraduate courses with 1,34,068 candidates already paying the registration fee.
Similarly, 30,107 had registered for admissions in M.Phil and Ph.D programs with 19,170 candidates completing the payment process, according to the university.

DU had started the registration process for the admission in 2020 from June 20, the delay was caused due to the COVID-19 lockdown. The university has made several changes in the admission procedure considering the COVID-19 pandemic and following the guidelines issued by the government.
The university is also providing the candidates with the option of correction and editing of the application forms, if there is any mistake done while filling the form. However, it will be done once the registration process will be completed.
