Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl Release Date: Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor is all set with her first-ever biopic of air force pilot Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl which is to be released on Independence Day i.e. on August 15 on Netflix. The film was slated to be released on the big screen, however, as all the theatres and multiplexes have been shut due to the ongoing nationwide lockdown imposed by the government, the filmmakers have decided to release the film digitally on the OTT platform.

According to the report of Bollywood Hungama, as the movie is a patriotic story, hence the makers have decided that the release of the film will be best on August 12 with the idea to pay tribute to the first female Indian Air Force pilot Gunjan Saxena who went on combat. Meanwhile, the trailer of the movie is under preparation and will be unveiled within the next 10 days.

The report also claimed that the movie was planned to release on Kargil Diwas, however, as the post-production work took longer than expected and hence, the movie release also got delayed. Meanwhile, if everything will be done as per the new schedule then as a tribute to Kargil martyrs, the first trailer of the movie will be released on July 26.

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl Release Date is set to release on 12th of August, 2020.

The movie Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl has been directed by Sharan Sharma and produced jointly by Dharma Productions and Zee Studios.  The movie features Janhvi, Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi, Vineet Kumar, Manav Vij, and Ayesha Raza in pivotal roles.

The movie is based on the life of Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena who along with Flight Lieutenant Srividya Rajan, was the first Indian female pilot in combat during the Kargil War. They flew the Cheetah helicopters in order to rescue the causalities and reconnaissance which made them flew close to Pakistani positions. This was done much before IAF started commissioning women fighter pilots. The movie will focus on the issues that Gunjan had faced at that time because being a pilot was not seen as a job that a woman could do, which she proved wrong.

The announcement of the movie Gunjan Saxena to have a direct OTT release comes after Amazon Prime Video announced the release of Amitabh Bachchan-Ayushmann Khurrana starter Gulabo Sitabo along with six highly-anticipated Indian films.
