While President Donald Trump has had the attention of the nation for the previous four years, his daughter and top aide, Ivanka Trump, has stealthily amassed her own accomplishments.
Trump’s effort has favourably influenced several aspects of American society, whether it was combating human trafficking or advocating for measures that promote women in the workplace.
Ivanka Trump’s most notable philanthropic achievements
- Supporting working-class families
In 2017, Trump collaborated with Congress to increase the child tax credit from $1,000 to almost $2,000 per kid and to broaden eligibility for the benefit. By 2019, approximately 40 million households have received CTC benefits, with an average payout of $2,200.
During yearly appropriations and budget legislation, Trump urged for child care funding to remain a primary priority. The president signed legislation increasing Child Care and Development Block Grants (CCDBG) from $3.9 billion to $5.8 billion.
During her father’s administration, Trump assembled politicians to discuss paid family leave, which has been extended to an additional eight million Americans in the previous four years. Trump is the first president to include a national paid leave program in each of his annual budgets, and he has campaigned for it in each of his State of the Union speeches.
- Strengthening the next generation of America’s workforce
Trump was active in the development of high-quality workforce training programs for the disenfranchised and underserved. By 2019, these people enjoyed some of the lowest unemployment rates in decades, higher labour-force participation rates, and the biggest gain in incomes in history.
Trump has prioritized discretionary spending for apprenticeships, investing almost $860 million since 2017. More than 850,000 apprentices have been employed in the previous four years. The Trump administration published a final rule in 2020 creating the legal procedure for recognizing competent third-party entities known as Standards Recognition Entities (SREs), which in turn analyze and acknowledge the newly formed Industry-Recognized Apprenticeship Program.
Ivanka Trump advocated for her father’s signature of a memorandum to enhance access to high-quality STEM and computer science education for all American kids.
The Presidential Memorandum, signed in 2017, required the Department of Education to commit at least $200 million in yearly funding to make STEM and computer science education a priority in competitive grant programs, with over $600 million allocated since assuming office. Trump encouraged business leaders to invest another $300 million in computer technology and STEM education.
- Fighting human trafficking
Trump has collaborated with bipartisan politicians, business leaders, and the non-governmental organization (NGO) community to strengthen the United States’ leadership in combatting human trafficking. These efforts resulted in the passage of nine measures as well as historic financing for victim assistance.
Ivanka spearheaded plans to organize the historic White House Summit on Human Trafficking: Honoring the 20th Anniversary of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000 in early 2020. President Trump issued an executive order to combat human trafficking and online child exploitation in the United States during this meeting.
- Empowering Women
Ivanka Trump was a driving force behind the promotion of women’s economic empowerment, which was featured in President Trump’s 2017 National Security Strategy. She also continues to lead the Trump administration’s global commitment to the economic empowerment of women.
These efforts led to the president signing the Women, Peace, and Security Act (WPS), which aims to increase women’s participation in conflict negotiation and mediation procedures.
Trump also collaborated with senators to enact the bipartisan Women’s Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment Act (WEEE Act), which assured that US development assistance equalized gender inequities across the world.
- Supporting farmers
Ivanka worked with Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue to launch the Farmers to Families Food Box Program to assist the nation’s farmers. The initiative was created to assist farmers, ranchers, and distributors of all sizes who had been touched by the epidemic in returning to work, as well as to assist overburdened food banks and food-insecure households.
They received an initial $3 billion for the food box program through the Coronavirus Food Assistance Initiative and have now won $1.5 billion extra to expand this successful program.
More than 123 million Farmers to Families Food Boxes had been supplied to over 10,000 nonprofit, food bank, and faith-based groups as of December 2020.
Ivanka Trump’s philanthropic achievements after Trump’s presidency
When Trump lost in the 2020 elections, Ivanka Trump kept a low profile and didn’t engage much with social media. However, she posted on Twitter and Instagram after a hiatus, the post was of her distributing free food boxes to families in upstate New York.
