Kevin McCarthy was born on 26th January 1965 in Bakersfield, California. He was born to Robert Darlene and Owen McCarthy. His mother was a homemaker and his father was an assistant city fire chief. He is a fourth-generation resident of Kern County.
His maternal grandfather was an Italian immigrant, and his paternal grandfather was Irish. His parents were members of the Democratic Party, but he is the only one in his family who is from the Republican Party.
