During his tenure, Bongino was assigned to the Presidential Protection Division, the training division, and the Baltimore Field Office.
In 2011, Bongino resigned from the Secret Service to pursue a political career. He ran for the United States Senate in Maryland in 2012 but was defeated by the incumbent Senator Ben Cardin.
