Hice attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in ministry in 1982. He completed a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1985. Before entering politics, Hice worked as a pastor, radio host, and conservative commentator.
