The tale of Rishi Panchami

At one time, a Brahmin named Uttak resided in Vidarbha land with his religious wife. He had a son and a daughter in his family. The son’s name was ‘Suvibhushan,’ who was very intelligent. The king married his daughter to a great Brahmin. By the grace of God, such a law was made that the daughter became a widow. With her religion, she started staying at her father’s house.

Seeing his daughter sad, Uttak left his son at home and started living in an ashram on the banks of the Ganges with his wife and daughter. The girl started serving her parents. One day, after working exhausted, the girl lay down to rest on a stone rock. In the middle of the night, insects acquired in her body. Seeing insects on her girl’s body, the brahmin wept mournfully and fainted.

Upon regaining consciousness, the lady picked up the girl and took her to the Sage and said, why did it become such a condition? Upon hearing the talk of a Brahmin, the devotees closed their eyes and meditated and said that your daughter was a Brahmin in her former birth. Once upon menstruation, he touched all the utensils, etc. of the house. Just because of this sin, insects have slumped on its body.

According to the scriptures, the woman on the first day Chandalani is like a holy laundress on the second day and Brahm Khusharani on the third day, and on the fourth day, she is purified after taking a bath. Even after being purified, she did not take an interest in observing the fast of Rishi Panchami with her friends. By the mere sight of the fast, it received the Brahmin clan.

But due to its scorn, insects got into its body. The Brahmini said, please tell me such a wonderful fast. Sri Krishna told this story to Yudhishthira. A woman who does housework even after menstruation, definitely goes to hell. Indra had incurred the great sin of killing Brahma due to killing Vrajasura in his previous birth.

At that time, Brahma Ji had blessed him and divided that sin into four places. First, in the flame of fire, second in the rainy waters of rivers, third in the mountains, fourth by dividing into the king’s womb, every woman should observe Rishi Panchami for purification of that sin.
