The makers of Sadak 2, which is the first collaboration of actress Alia Bhatt with her father Mahesh Bhatt, has announced today that the film is all set to have its digital release on Disney+ Hotstar on August 28, 2020.
Sadak 2 is the sequel to the hit film Sadak that was released in 1991 and featured Alia’s elder sister Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt. The film was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and was a hit. The filmmaker is returning to direction with the sequel Sadak 2.
Sadak 2 Release Date
The Raazi actress took to her Twitter handle to release the date along with the new poster of the film. She tweeted, “Sadak 2, the road to love streaming on @DisneyPlusHotstarVIP from 28 August #DisneyPlusHotstarMultiplex #AdityaRoyKapur @poojab1972 #MukeshBhatt #SuhritaSengupta @mohankapur #akshayanandd.”
The new poster shared by Alia shows the trio viz. Sanjay, Alia, and Aditya walking on a highway while facing a mountain.
Sadak 2 Cast
The movie stars Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapoor in the lead roles. They are joined by Pooja Bhatt, Jisshu Sengupta, Makarand Deshpande, Gulshan Grover, Priyanka Bose, Mohan Kapur, Akshay Anand, and others in Sadak 2. It has been bankrolled by Fox Star Studios.
The movie was earlier scheduled to be theatrically released on July 10 but due to the COVID-19 lockdown as well as its increasing cases, its release was postponed. However, as the coronavirus cases are increasing day by day instead of subsiding, the makers of Sadak 2 decided to join the league of the films which are opting for digital release on OTT instead of theatrical release.
Sadak 2 will release on Disney+ Hotstar?
Earlier in July, the filmmakers had announced the movie to be released on Disney+ Hotstar in a virtual press conference along with unveiling the first poster of Sadak 2 that featured a highway and Mount Kailash.
Talking about Sadak 2 getting an OTT release, Mukesh Bhatt has said that he was compelled to choose digital release as there is no other option available and he can’t see the theatre to get open in near future considering the increasing COVID-19 pandemic.
Talking about the film, Alia Bhatt has said that it’s a homecoming for her and is way more than a film to her. She added that the film is a continuation of the previous Sadak and Ravi will meet two new people. It is a road to love and is having a different love story along with a thrill related to the villain of the film that people would know once they watch the film.
With its premiere on August 28 on Disney+ Hotstar, Sadak 2 has become the latest film to get an OTT release due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Apart from Sadak 2, Disney+ Hotstar has already released late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film Dil Bechara, Kunal Kemmu’s Lootcase, and is going to release Akshay Kumar’s Laxxmi Bomb, Ajay Devgn’s Bhuj: The Pride of India, and others.
