After Irfaan Khan, Rishi Kapoor, and Sushant Singh Rajput, another Bollywood actress, Kumkum has passed away. She was 86 years old. Kumkum died due to prolonged illness. Her bungalow was once called Kumkum road, which is now linking Road in Mumbai. Later it was broken into a building.

Born on 22 April 1934 in Sheikhpura (now), Bihar, Kumkum’s real name was Zaibunnissa. Kumkum’s father was the Nawab of Hussainabad. Kumkum also acted in the first Bhojpuri film “Ganga Maiya Tohe Piyari Chadhibo” (1963). Indeed, Kumkum is considered to be the discovery of Gurudutt. 

Gurudutt was supposed to film the song “Kabhi Ar Kabhi Paar Laga Tire Nazar” from his film Ar Paar (1954) on actor Jagdeep, but later Gurudutt felt that it should be shot on a woman. At the time, no one agreed to do such a small song. Then finally, Guru Dutt portrayed this song on Kumkum. Later, Guru Dutt also gave her a small character in his film Pyaasa.

Actor Jagdeep’s son Naved Jaffrey has tweeted and mourned the actress’s demise. He wrote – We lost another pearl. I knew him since childhood. She was a family for us—a good person. God bless your soul, Kumkum aunty.

Kumkum acted in around 115 films in her career. Kumkum is known for her brilliant performances in Mr. X in Bombay (1964), Mother India (1957), Kohinoor (1960), Ujala, Naya Daur, Sriman Funtoosh, Ek Sapera Ek Lootera. She had worked with many stars of her time, including Kishore Kumar and Guru Dutt. 

Kumkum became a trademark in the 50s, and she gave several hits in her vocation. Although she several awards for her work, her name was always nominated on some of the other categories. The veteran not only ruled the hearts of people but also led the Box-office. She became the most famous face in India, she was born a loser, but she died like a legend.
