News surfaced on Thursday that Russia’s most prominent leader Aleksei Navalny was put on a ventilator in a hospital at Siberia. Last year, Aleksei Navalny was a vocal critic of President Vladimir Putin, who was hospitalized after he suffered an allergic reaction in jail, from unsuspected chemical substances. And another incident that took place was two years before this, Navalny was doused with a bright green liquid in Barnaul, which is a city in Siberia, and the attempt was made by an assailant who pretended to shake his hand.
Who is Aleksei Navalny?
Aleksei Navalny was a lawyer who is now an activist, and he rose to fame in 2008. He started posting about the corruption in Russia through his blogs, and because of which in 2018, he was barred from standing against Putin in the presidential elections. Along with this, he has also been arrested on multiple occasions ever since he has started exposing the corruption in Russia and political campaigning. Aleksei Navalny has stood firm many anti-corruption rallies in Russia and is taken to be the face of the opposition in Russia. And everyone is aware that Russia is a country that has doesn’t hesitate to eliminate dissidents and spies by poisoning them.
What Happened to Aleksei Navalny?
On Thursday morning, Russia’s famous opponent party leader Aleksei Navalny was admitted to a hospital in Siberia. It is suspected that he might be poisoned since he drank a cup of tea that might have been the reason for his health. He was put on a ventilator, and his spokesperson Kira Yarmysh put up a post on Twitter saying that, “while Navalny was returning to Moscow by air, he felt unwell as a result of which the plane made an emergency landing in Omsk. She also added that Navalny has toxic poisoning. After the spokesperson put her post, Yarmysh wrote on the social media platform, “We assume that Alexei was poisoned with something mixed into the tea. It was the only thing that he drank in the morning. Doctors say the toxin was absorbed faster through the hot liquid. Alexey is now unconscious.”
