Who is the best legacy player in Major League Baseball (MLB)?

The year 2020 is coming with something new with each passing day including surprises and shocks (in the majority). The COVID-19 pandemic is of course at the top spot as it has led to so many other happenings across the globe. The pandemic has affected every segment of our life from our job to entertainment and sports.

In order to keep ourselves away from all the negative things going around the world, we have several other things that we can focus upon now with the ease in the lockdown. One such thing is SB Nation Reacts which was formally known as SB Nation Fanpulse. It is a survey of fans across Major League Baseball in which 30 polls are sent to plugged in fans from each team.

Who is the best legacy player in Major League Baseball (MLB)?

The current topic in MLB is the young stars emerging across the league. These include those having family connections from past or present generations. For example, the son of Hall of Famer Craig Biggio, Cavan Biggio currently plays for the Blue Jays.

This week, SB Nation Reacts asked the fans to vote as to which player of this new generation, they see as the best legacy player. Based on the poll, Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres has emerged as the winner with 41% votes.

Tatis Jr. is followed by Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger with 34% and San Francisco Giants outfielder Mike Yastrzemski with18% votes. Interestingly, both Tatis Jr.’s and Bellinger’s father have played in the big leagues and Yastrzemski’s grandfather is Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski.

The reason behind Tatis Jr. claiming the top spot is the increase in his power this season. The infielder has led the league in home runs for a stretch early in the year with a percentage of .800.

Apart from this, fans were also asked to vote for the most outrageous stat for the early season in 2020. Guess what! Fans have voted maximum for Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon. Charlie has been hitting over .450 and improving. He is followed by Shane Bieber with 43 strikeouts and Tatis Jr. with .810 SLG.

This year, the season has been shortened due to the COVID-19 quarantines. When SB Nation Reacts asked the fan to vote as to what number of teams will miss a series or more due to COVID-19.

As per the result, 90% of fans think that less than half of the league is going to miss a series due to COVID-19.

You can also sign up to participate in SBN Reacts surveys. The surveys will go out every week and require a few minutes to complete.
