Hartalika Teej is among the four Teejs which are celebrated in India. It is celebrated on the third day after the full moon (Hasta Nakshatra in the Tritiya of Shukla Paksha) during the month of Bhadrapada of the Hindu calendar.

The festival is celebrated to welcome the monsoon season. This year Hartalika Teej will be celebrated on August 21 i.e. tomorrow in India. The festival is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
As per the Hindu legends, a friend of Goddess Parvati took her to the forest on this day. She did this to save the Goddess from her father as he wanted to get her married to Lord Vishnu against her will. Later, Goddess Parvati worshipped Lord Shiva to which he promised to marry her.
