KissAnime and KissManga Permanently Shut Down: Users are looking for Alternatives?

KissAnime and KissManga, for those who don’t know, are the two big sites that provide anime and manga content to the audience. These two sites are now permanently shut down after a decade by Japan. According to HITC’s latest report, there are millions of people who used these sites asking questions on why they closed the site? Let us have a closer look at the reasons.

Why were KissAnime and KissManga closed?

KissAnime and KissManga are two sites that provided the audience with free, usually pirated, anime movies, and shows. This website’s parent company also has other sites such as KissAsian, KissCartoon, and KissManga, which was also closed because of copyright claims. Both KissAnime and KissManga are now shut for the audience because of the copyright issues. The owners removed all of their files because of legality issues, and with this, the streaming community also faced this kind of problem.  The Kiss Anime Page said that “KissAnime DMCA Page said that the website does host any content. It only embeds or links contents from other Online Video hosting sites such as YouTube.com, Megavideo.com, Google Video, and Veoh.com.”

What are the alternatives for KissAnime and KissManga?

Ever since the news dropped that KissAnime and KissManga will remain shut now, people who had been streaming on the sites are wondering about the alternatives. But the HITC has warned the users not to use other sites as alternatives as they are phishing sites. They are incredibly harmful to the device and may create permanent damage. The shutting down of the two anime content provider sites could lead to scam sites, like the ones that pop up and could trick victims into accessing the fake websites and create damage. So it is advised to be aware before using any such sites since KissAnime and KissManga have been closed.

  • Well…. Japan just killed the manga and anime community. Even though there are many paid streaming platforms, some has very low contents while the others are inaccessible in many countries. They were the only means through which readers could get access to anime and support the author by buying anime or manga related stuff. The main issue is that to satisfy one’s thirst, one need to have more than one ott subscription for quality and quantity anime and manga which is undesirable, the same issue prevails for movie and tv streaming platforms but it has be beautifully saved in the music industry by Spotify. Piracy will exist as long as these issues are not solved.

    • That is true but a lot more people and finances to put together anime TV and movies. Most studio albums are made from $20,000-$250,000, depending upon equipment used, editing, and time in studio. They spend over $250,000 just on catering food during movie productions, forget about the movie itself. Anime takes even longer because everything had to be created.

Just because one website was shut down, it does not mean the end of the world. There are 100’s of other web platforms for anime viewing out there, with legal copyrights – not pirated material. If you worked so hard on something and then someone broke into your house, stole it from you and then gave it away to the masses for free, I guarantee you would be angry as well.
