The story revolves around a 20-year old boy named Naofumi Iwatani. He discovers a fantasy book of 4 heroes and is entered in the fantasy world himself. He was chosen as The Shield Hero, the weakest of all four heroes. All four of them were given a task to save the world. After he was betrayed by the king he left the castle and goes on an adventure of his own. His new path will not be easy and he will make new friends and enemies on the way. He has to cross every hardship and will have to save the world.
Season 2 will resume right form the cliffhanger of season 1. The end of season 1 left all the fans with a lot of questions and every question will be answered in season 2.

A new promotional video was released on the official twitter account of the anime, revealing the release date of the anime. The first season consisted of 25 episodes and season 2 is expected to have the same amount of episodes.
