Indian Railways to begin passenger trains from May 12: For the first time in India, more than 4200 new cases of Corona have come in a day. And at such a time, the government has made an extraordinary decision.

Indian Railways Ministry is going to run trains from May 12. In the initial phase, only 15 trains will be run. Passenger trains were stopped from May 25 even before the lockdown was implemented in the entire country.

But before the end of lockdown-3, people are surprised by how the government made this decision. The decision of the Railway Ministry has also been welcomed by the country’s main opposition party Congress.

Former Finance Minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram have tweeted that similarly, the government should also consider opening road transport and airline.

But some people are also questioning this.

Leader and sociologist Yogendra Yadav have shared much news, raising many questions. It is evident that his objection is to run the AC train first.

According to the railways, all the 15 first-run trains will be AC coaches like Rajdhani. These trains will travel from New Delhi to Patna, Ranchi, Howrah, Dibrugarh, Agartala, Bilaspur, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad, and Jammu Tawi.

Ticket booking for these trains will start at 4 pm on May 11. Tickets can only be collected from the IRCTC website.

For the train journey starting from tuesday, a new circular has also been issued from the railways on the rules of train running, fares, and social distancing.

IRCTC CMD MP Mal has shared the highlights of this circular with our sources.  According to him, these 15 pairs of trains will be Rajdhani, and the fare which was earlier used on this route, the same will apply this time.

But catering charges will not be levied. Let us tell you, till the lockdown, ‘Dynamic pricing‘ was applied in Rajdhani trains, i.e., as the seats are filled, the fare will increase.

Passengers will be able to buy water by paying for catering water and some packaged food trains. Bedrolls will not be given on these trains.

A train will have 1 AC, 2AC, and 3AC coaches just like Rajdhani. There will be no problem with social distancing in 1AC and 2AC, but at 3AC, it is not clear whether it will be 72 seats or not.

This is because there is talk of taking 1700 passengers in place of 1200 in special labor trains also.

How many days a week will train run

Although the full timetable has not been released yet, according to the railways, out of these 15 pairs of trains, some trains will run daily, which will be short distances or will travel overnight.

Long-distance trains will run for two or three days a week. Train stops will be less compared to regular passengers.  Before the lockdown, the trains will run on the same route on which the trains used to run during the week.

After the decision to run the train, the question was everywhere how would people reach from house to station and station to house. Now the situation has become clear about this.

After showing the confirmed ticket for the train, people and the driver will be given the facility to go from station to house and house to station.

Trains to hotspot areas

These trains will travel from Delhi to Patna, Ranchi, Howrah, Dibrugarh, Agartala, Bilaspur, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad, and Jammu Tawi and then return.

But if we talk about Mumbai Central and Ahmedabad, then there are increasing cases of Corona there. Mumbai remains a hotspot of Corona right now.

Ensuring that the passengers arriving by trains reach their homes then and adequately their regular checks are done, this can increase the difficulties of the state governments.

In the same way, there was a lot of rift between the West Bengal government and the Center regarding the workers’ special trains from Bengal.  In such a situation, how will the attitude of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee about passenger trains, will also be a matter to be seen.

Government Guidelines on AC

It has been said clearly from the railways that whatever 15 trains will run will be AC.  Earlier, the government had issued a circular regarding centralized AC, which said that there could be a danger with centralized AC.

In such a situation, we spoke to K Srinath Reddy, President of the Public Health Foundation of India. According to him, the government is bringing people from the aircraft, and AC is also running there.

In such a situation, if the government fixes an ambient temperature, according to the surrounding environment, it will be favorable.

According to Dr. Reddy, by pre-screening the passenger before the journey, wearing a passenger mask during the trip, and following the rules of social distancing, then the risk of spreading Corona can be reduced.

According to Dr. Reddy, now when we have to make a habit of living with the Corona, train and flight cannot be kept closed forever. We will have to start from somewhere.

On the train, Minister Piyush Goyal had informed on the tweet on Sunday that there are plans to run 300 more labor specials. This is being done on the demand of the state governments.

Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla has written a letter to the Home Secretaries of all the states on Monday morning and asked the State Governments to cooperate with the Ministry of Railways in running the special labor train.
