Joe Biden Expected To Get Endorsement By Abortion Rights Groups

The country's top three abortion rights groups vowed to support the United States President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

On Friday, in an event marking the first anniversary of the Supreme Court’s judgment on Dobbs that overturned Roe vs. Wade, the country’s top three abortion rights groups vowed to support the United States President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

Emily’s List, NARAL Pro-Choice America, and Planned Parenthood Action Fund will reportedly endorse the President’s re-election effort to underline the importance of the issue for Democrats moving toward the election year.

In a statement after announcing their endorsement, President and chief executive of Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Alexis McGill Johnson, said,” I think that President Biden has been an incredibly valuable partner, with Vice President Harris, in fighting back against the onslaught of attacks that we have seen.”

Indicating their support for Biden, administration’s efforts to provide abortion rights, he added,” We are heading into an election where opposition is very clear; they are pushing for a national ban. And we have an administration that has taken significant steps to protect patients and providers during this healthcare crisis. The choice is really clear.”

Johnson also urged people to endorse President Biden and asserted that anti-abortion politicians could misuse their power to ban abortion.

He said,” There is so much at stake. We know that if anti-abortion politicians gain control of the White House, they will exploit their power toward their ultimate goal, a national abortion ban. That’s why we must reelect President Biden and Vice President Harris, who we can trust to keep rebuilding a path forward because we know the journey to rebuilding our rights will face challenges.”

Emily’s List president Laphonza Butler praised the Vice President and said, “Harris is a powerful symbol for Emily’s List and an advocacy group for Democratic female candidates. She is the highest serving woman who has broken the hard glass ceiling of representing women in the White House.”

Butler continued, “This is the administration using every bully pulpit to promote reproductive health and freedom across the country.”

Last year, the Supreme Court overturned the landmark ruling in Roe vs. Wade that legalized abortion. As a result, 22 states passed a ban or highly restrictive policies on abortion, rendering it nearly inaccessible. The Biden government has endeavored to unite leaders from all 50 states to discuss strategies to boost access to abortion and help people in more restrictive states.

In a campaign event, of the President on Friday, Biden’s campaign manager, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, expressed gratitude to the abortion rights groups for their endorsement and said that the President and vice president were proud to have received the support of the groups.

Referring to former President Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan, Julie Chavez Rodriguez said, “Since the Supreme Court’s decision last year to overturn Roe vs. Wade, we have seen the horrifying impact that the extreme MAGA agenda has on women’s health. MAGA Republicans’ promising a national abortion ban makes re-electing President Biden and Vice President Harris all the more important.”
