Tim Walz is an American politician and the current governor of Minnesota. He was born on April 6, 1964, in West Point, Nebraska. Walz grew up in Chadron, Nebraska, and attended Chadron State College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in social science education.

After college, Walz served in the Army National Guard for 24 years, rising to the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He taught high school geography and coached football and wrestling in Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota.
