Fani Willis family relocated to Washington when Willis was in grade one. Since childhood, she has lived with her father after her parents divorced and her mother moved to California. Willis obtained her graduation in political science from Howard University in 1993. Later, she earned her Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law.
After her education, Willis became an Assistant District Attorney to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. She served in the post for 16 years until 2018.
2018 Willis resigned from the District Attorney’s office and began her private practice. In the same year, she also ran for a vacant seat on the Fulton County Superior Court which she lost.
