Gregory Abbott (full name Greg Wayne Abbott) is an American politician and lawyer serving since 2015 as the 48th governor of the state of Texas. He is a member of the Republican Party of the USA. From 2002 to 2015, Greg Abbott also served as the 50th attorney general of Texas. Abbott was elected governor in 2014 in the gubernatorial election and re-elected in the 2018 election with 59 and 56 per cent of the vote share, respectively.

Gregory Abbott was born in Wichita Falls in Texas on November 13th in the year 1957. Greg Abbott graduated from a school called Duncanville High School where he was a part of the school track team. He was also a member of the national honour society. He was voted ” Most likely to succeed” in High School. He enjoyed himself at the University of Texas at Austin and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance in the year 1981. He was a member of the young republicans club and The Delta Tau Delta fraternity in college. He attended the Vanderbilt University of Law School in Nashville, Tennessee from when he earned his Juris Doctor degree in the year 1984.
Greg Abbott Career
Gregory Abbott started his career as a trial judge in the 129 District Court for three years in the state of Houston. He was appointed to the Texas Supreme court by then-Governor George W Bush. He was also elected twice to the state’s highest Civil Court in 1996 for a two-year term and in 1998 for a six-year term. George Abbott went back to practising in private after he resigned from the supreme court in the year 2001. He also worked for Bracewell and Giuliani LLC. He also served as an adjunct professor at the University of the Texas School of Law.
He held the position of Lieutenant Governor of Texas in 2001 before which he resigned from the Texas Supreme Court. Abbott was sworn in as the attorney-general in December 2002 after the Republican Cornyn’s election to the Senate. In the 2014 Texas gubernatorial election, Gregory Abbott defeated Davis and was elected as the Governor of Texas. He was re-elected in the 2018 gubernatorial election after defeating the democratic nominee Lupe Valdez with 56% of the vote share.

Gravity Abbott is a Roman Catholic who was married to Cecilia Phallen Abbott. Cecelia is the daughter of Mexican immigrants. They got married in the year 1981 in San Antonio. They are about the parents of one adopted daughter called Audrey.
