The report said, “The power that Mr. Carlson, 53, wielded outside Fox News could not insulate him from a growing list of troubles inside the network related to his conduct on and off the air, some of which had been grating on Mr. Murdoch and his father, Rupert Murdoch, the chairman of Fox Corporation, who co-founded the network in 1996, according to the two people with knowledge of the company’s decision.”

The outlet added, “The host, a polarizing and unpopular figure at the network outside of his staff, was exposed as part of a defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems as a bully who denigrated colleagues and sources, often in profane and sexist language, and called for the firing of Fox journalists whose coverage he disliked. He has also drawn condemnation from the right and left for his role in fostering a revisionist account of the assault on the United States Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. ”

Carlson was fired from Fox Network in April after the settlement of a $787.5 million defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems over the broadcast of former President Donald Trump’s lies about voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election, which he lost to President Joe Biden.

In his first interview after his termination with British comedian Russell Brand in his podcast ‘Stay Free,’ Carlson indicated why the network took him off the air in April.

Carlson said, “Honestly, I don’t know. They didn’t agree with me, of course, I don’t think.” He further added, “It is not the first time I’ve been fired. When you say what you think, there’s an expectation you can get fired. I didn’t expect to get fired that morning at all, so I was shocked. But I wasn’t really shocked. I was not mad.”

Carlson was also questioned about several topics, including his views on Donald Trump and President Joe Biden. The former host asserted that he agreed with Trump’s position on the war in Ukraine.

Carlson said of Trump’s criticism of the U.S. involvement in the war, “Trump is the only person who is saying, ‘Wait a second. You know, why are we supporting an endless war in Ukraine?’ All I can say at this point is I’m so grateful that he has that position. He is right. And everyone in Washington is wrong, everyone.”

Carlson added that Trump is right because the war is reshaping the world, the economy, and the population.

The former host also commented on Biden’s immigration policies, saying the current approach to the issue is designed to wreck the country, making it unstable.

Carlson said, “I am not against immigrants. That’s insane. The way the United States is doing immigration is designed to wreck the country and add to racial division, which I hate because it’s not solvable. Our leaders not only want racial conflict but are stroking it.”

After his dismissal, Carlson revived his show on Twitter in May. He described Twitter as the last remaining platform in the world allowing free speech. He shared a video about his beginning of the show on a new platform with a tweet, “We are back.”
