Michael Whatley is the Chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party after being elected at the 2019 NC GOP State Convention. The University of North Carolina at Charlotte graduate earned a history degree and a master’s degree in religion from Wake Forest University before graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1997 with both a law degree and a master’s degree in theology. He served as a federal law clerk, a senior official in the George W. Bush Administration, and as Chief of Staff for US Senator Elizabeth Dole, R-NC. He is currently a partner at HBW Resources, an energy consulting firm.
