AOC Gets Brutally Fact-Checked By Witness During Climate Hearing
On Tuesday, During the hearing, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez AOC, the ranking member on the House Natural Resources Committee’s Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources, said that 25% of the nation’s total greenhouse gas emissions happen due to oil and natural gas production.
The claim she made worked as a justification for her new “Green New Deal” policies.
However, the Western Energy Alliance president, Kathleen Sgamma, said that AOC claims are based on wrong statistics, and all of her claims have already been withdrawn Department of the Interior, stating that her claims are based on misreading statistics about greenhouse gas production.

Kathleen Sgamma debunked all AOC claims by saying, “I just want to start off by correcting something the ranking member said in her opening statement. She claimed that oil and gas production on federal lands is responsible for about a quarter of greenhouse gas emissions”.
Stating AOC claims as “Complete Falsehood”
Sgamma further added, “That’s based on a misreading of a USGS study of greenhouse gas emissions. And if you actually look at the numbers, production on federal lands and waters accounts for 0.6% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, not ‘nearly a quarter.’”

During the hearing, Sgamma also said that the statistics on greenhouse gas production due to oil and gas production on federal lands used by AOC are based on complete falsehood.

She also added that even the Department of the Interior stopped using those numbers after she told them about the USGS reports.
Sgamma also urged to investigate the Interior Department, as she believes that domestic oil drilling has major future opportunities and can cut the price of oil.
She stated the Biden administration has put up many roadblocks that are preventing U.S. domestic oil companies from unlocking their full potential. Due to this, America has to rely on the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), and the prices are all-time high.

Sgamma said, “I urge you to submit formal requests for information on the coordination between the Department of the Interior, including its various offices and bureaus, and environmental and activist groups,”
She told the committee.“I believe those requests would uncover a trove of information of inappropriate collusion outside the public eye and outside formal Administrative Procedure Act processes. ”
“The information would be very helpful as states and groups like Western Energy Alliance seek to overturn many of these regulations in court, a Herculean task given the sheer volume of them.”
