Catherine Engelbrecht Bio & Wiki
Born in Richmond, Texas, Catherine Engelbrecht is currently serving as the CXO and co-founder of CoverMe company. She is the President of a high precision oilfield machine shop established by her and her husband Bryan Engelbrecht in 1994.
CoverMe is a SaaS application for hospitals and long-term care providers, using AI efficiencies, proprietary rules, and risk engines to support real-time program eligibility decisions and turnkey document creation.
Catherine believes that if the government is not held accountable, it will inevitably abuse the rights of American citizens. Upon learning that the Internal Revenue Service was targeting her and her organization, Catherine stood her ground and took action. In 2013, Truethevote initiated a precedent-setting lawsuit against the IRS and its leaders, resulting in a historic victory in 2019.
True The Vote, a grassroots initiative to restore the integrity of our voting system, grew out of the King Street Patriots. True the Vote educates voters, researches the accuracy of voter registration, trains and mobilizes volunteers to work at polling stations, and advocates for comprehensive electoral law reform.
Catherine Engelbrecht Career
In the late 2000s, Engelbrecht was a small business owner in Southeast Texas who wasn’t heavily involved in politics. But the election of Barack Obama to the presidency in 2008 troubled her enough that she became actively involved in local Tea Party efforts, attending rallies and gatherings.
In 2009 she founded the King Street Patriots to support and defend America’s exceptionalism, civic duty, and constitutional government.
In 2011, CPAC presented Catherine and True the Vote earned the Ronald Reagan Freedom Award 2011, presented by CPAC in recognition of their groundbreaking performance. In 2012, Catherine was named one of Politico’s “50 To Watch,” awarded to 50 new and emerging talents on the national political scene.
In 2013 advocated strict regulation of voter IDs in Texas. She was also harassed by the Internal Revenue Service (she won that round) and other government agencies. It has only made her and her volunteers in more than 30 states more determined to restore electoral integrity.
Catherine Engelbrecht Family
Engelbrecht, 41, was born in Rosenberg, about 30 miles southeast of Houston and on the outskirts of Harris County. It was, she says, the embodiment of a small town in Texas. Her father, an accountant, was active in local politics, served on the city council as a defender for the local American Legion, and served on hospital and library boards.
He inspired Engelbrecht’s anti-tax view of politics and small government. But he wasn’t a bomb thrower. Engelbrecht recalls advice she rarely followed: “Don’t overdo it with a branch so that if someone cuts it off, you’ll be the only one to fall.”
In 2014, Engelbrecht and her husband filed for divorce, and Bryan Engelbrecht left True the Vote’s board. Gregg Phillips, a longtime conservative operative, took his seat.
